I don’t believe one’s path is linear, nor should it look like everyone elses’ and I hope my story can serve as a reminder for others to always return to and reconnect with their own dreams, convictions and desires. A big hurdle for me was getting over what people thought I should be doing as someone who had a specific career path in filmmaking and production, which is still something I do as it still remains one of my passions. By saying “yes,” instead of “I can’t,” emerged a sense of freedom that was exhilirating.Īfter reaching my 30s, I’ve grown to identify and value what my true passions are and deeply connect to my purpose despite the limitations in my mind of what that would look like. There have been countless times I thought I couldn’t paint something a client requested or wanted to decline a big project because I was too intimidated. Ever since starting Letters & Feathers, my own little calligrpahy + watercolor art shop, I’ve been challenged in many ways to do things I’m uncomfortable with, yet it is in that place of discomfort and feeling of inadequacy that opens the door for possibility.
I want my legacy to be about freedom and possibility.
